Halloween is less than a week away! For those who aren’t feelin’ the restricting spooky masks, uncomfortable body suits, or the caked on makeup, there are still many ways you can participate in the festivities and look great (with less maintenance). Here are several unconventional tips for showing your spirit without being a party-pooper.
Black is the New Black
Perhaps the easiest way to dress up for Halloween is to wear all black; It never goes out of style.
Tip: Try wearing an all-black outfit that embodies a unique or interesting shape and allow the silhouette to speak for itself.
Put a Skull on it
Being that Halloween represents the “night where the line is blurred between the living and the dead”, skeletons and skulls tend to be pretty predominant. As a symbol of mortality, they are also highly celebrated for Dia de los Muertos (or the “Day of the Dead”).
Tip: If you don’t want to get all decked out this 31st, wearing a simple skeleton accessory will show some spirit. “Being” a skeleton for Halloween is also a quick and easy look that can be achieved by wearing an all black outfit of your choice painted or printed with white “bones”.
Add Some Fall Flair
Just because the holiday is filled ghosts and ghouls, doesn’t mean you have to go dark.
Tip: Inspired by the turning leaves, bring a pop of autumnal color into your outfit.
Go Bold or Go Home
Let’s be real though… Halloween is all about shock factor. Give them something to talk about by going bold.
Tip: Use the holiday to your advantage by being able to wear just about anything you want. Make it especially chic by going simple and adding one or two bold pieces from your wardrobe.
