EWC Fall Style Swap Recap

Fashion v October 7, 2015

We came, we saw, we swapped… at last weekend’s EWC Fall Style Swap in Brooklyn!

Hosted by the Ethical Writers Co. and online ethical fashion retailer, Zady, the event introduced an alternative way of refreshing your Fall wardrobe. It encouraged clearing out your closet of 10-15 unused clothing and accessories items and swapping them with others who could appreciate them.

The event began with each attendee dropping off their lightly used clothing and heading downstairs for a cocktail social. The drinks included organic champagne and bitters made from tea by The Owls Brew (served with cute straws by Susty Party). Guests were able to mingle with one another and meet the likes of organizer Faye Lessler (and blogger of sustaining.life), Alden Wicker of EcoCult and other Ethical Writers Co. members. We were lucky enough to be one of the first 35 to arrive and received an AYLA tote bag as a special gift (which came in handy for second-hand scavenging). Another awesome surprise were the coupons from all the event’s sponsors.

Our intentions for this event were to bring people together and inform them a little bit more about sustainable fashion and how shopping sustainably can be really easy – and fun!” Said the event’s head coordinator, Faye Lessler.

“The best moments at this event, for me, were when I saw people finding items that they were really excited about! Sass Brown found a fabulous pair of boots and then discovered that the woman who had brought them was taking one of Sass’s sweaters home. We loved seeing all of the swappers help each other out with styling and digging for each others’ sizes.”

Tatyana Acuna, EcoHabitude’s business development guru, had such a great time at the event. She even made out with a cute chevron jacket (photo to come)!
